Tammy “T.J.” Schellman was a full-time caregiver for adults with disabilities at ACR Homes for 20 years. She was adored by the residents she cared for, and her deep wisdom and compassion made her the one to whom coworkers turned for insight and advice, often staying after a shift ended just to chat with her. She was on the ministry team at The Salvage Yard Church in Minneapolis. T.J. and her husband, Mike, had long anticipated becoming parents, and just before Christmas she shared the news that they were expecting their first child in April.
T.J. was hospitalized on February 28th due to pregnancy complications which tragically took her life on March 6th. Her baby boy, Wolfhart “Wolfie” was delivered 7 weeks early and is doing well in the NICU. Her husband, Mike, is grieving the loss of T.J. and facing the challenges of parenting a premature newborn alone. This comes just as Mike was to begin training for a new job—one he’d been hoping for after he lost his previous job in layoffs a few years ago due to the recession.
Friends and Co-workers of T.J. and Mike have established the Baby Schellman Fund to help Mike & Wolfie.
