Kingsdown Europe 2013
First of all, we want to say how much we appreciate each and every one of you. Many of you have been with us and followed us since our beginning in 2002 and many of you have only began to follow us recently. Some of you may not even know much about Kingsdown. You may only know us as friends, family, employees, church members, etc. Regardless, you are all friends and family in our eyes. For that, we thank you.
Kingsdown began in 2002 and has evolved and grown in many ways over the past 10 years. We have been blessed and fortunate enough to tour over 35 states since 2004 when we embarked on our first national tour. We have played 100s of churches, bars, clubs, skateparks, festivals, etc. We have seen the good, bad, and ugly of all different styles of venues. We feel we have a lifetimes worth of memories doing what God has called us to do. We have done all of this without ever taking a dollar for ourselves.
Over the years we have seen and heard of countless lives being changed as a result of offering people the most important substance we know to offer them. That is Love. Our goal is to love people and share with them the God’s love no matter where they are in their life. It is our mission. It always has been. We feel this is the greatest example of Christ. We are told it is greater than even faith and hope. We love to play shows, entertain people, talk to them, love them, listen to them, talk to them about what is going on in their lives, and establish relationships with people all over the country. We want people to know there is a perfect God who loves them so dearly. Our desire is for each person to know that all they have to do is wake up and see that the greatest gift imaginable is free. We are already in the loving embrace of our Lord. We just have to open our eyes. We want people to know they are beautiful, and lovely….that they are Loved, unconditionally.
Recently, we have been presented an opportunity to spread this Love we speak of as Kingsdown beyond our borders to different countries in Europe. This is not an opportunity that comes to many bands. We have been invited to play a Christian festival in Balingen, Germany called Balinger Rockfest. We are also planning a European tour around the dates of this festival. The total cost to get to Europe and back, rent a van, eat, buy gas to get from country to country will be around $10,000. As we did with the Extreme Tour in 2004, we agreed to do this tour on a leap of faith before we ever had any funds to get us there. We will be leaving during the second week of March which leaves us less than two months to raise the money needed for the trip.
I wish I could show you graphs and charts of the importance of Christianity and Religion in Europe. 71% of citizens in the U.K. say spirituality of any kind does not matter. In the Czech Republic 74% say these beliefs do not matter. The Netherlands, Germany, Poland and more places we are planning to go all have percentages higher than 60%. Only 52% of citizens in the EU claim to believe in God (of any religion). There is something to be said about this. The good and positive love of Christ is needed all over.
