Alana's Story:
As you may know, I have been attending the Jackson Free Methodist Church Youth Group where I have been challenged to live beyond myself to help others. This summer I am excited to give myself while serving on a mission trip to Tocoa, Honduras. Honduras is the second poorest country in Central America, with over 70% of the people there living under the poverty line. Due to the extreme poverty there are many physical, educational, social, and spiritual issues that people there face.

While in Honduras, our team will work with a local pastor who has a big heart for the poor. Because of the unavailability of safe, clean drinking water, and the risk of mosquito-borne malaria and dengue fever each person faces, we will be providing water filters and mosquito nets. We will also take time to train these families on their proper use. These filters and nets will provide the necessary help these people need to live healthy lives. Last year we were able to distribute enough filters and nets to provide for a whole village in need—giving life-saving clean water and protection from horrible, life-threatening diseases to hundreds of God’s people!
As we invest in our designated village, we will also host a Vacation Bible School where we will provide basic health training to the children there.

As we invest in these kids, we will share Bible Stories with them, sing songs, and introduce them to Jesus. We want these children to understand just how valuable they are and that God loves them so much.

This is a vital ministry and I am very excited about being part of it. I hope you can see the value in what we will accomplish. As you can imagine a trip like this requires financial support from a number of people. I need to raise a total of $1500 by June 15, 2013. If you can support me in any way, I would be very grateful.
If you would like to partner with me in this mission experience through your financial support, please use the payment options on this page or send a check to:

You can make the check payable to the Jackson Free Methodist Youth and write Honduras and my name on the memo line. All donations are tax deductible.

While the money is important, it comes as a distant second to my need for your prayer support. Please consider partnering with me in prayer as I prepare for this ministry opportunity. Thank you for considering supporting me as I am excited about the experience that awaits me.
