On June 3rd, my sister Charite began treatments for chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) — a diagnosis that came just weeks earlier, after advocating for herself & her health. (Over the years she’s had surgery for obturator hernias, endometriosis and a hysterectomy - she’s had to fight for better health for years). Her doctors say its likely been 5+ years of her living with undiagnosed CLL - explaining many years of suffering with chronic pain & fatigue.
In true Charite fashion, she faces this challenge with humour, grace, and fierce optimism. Even through long hours of IV infusions, medications, and the toll that treatment brings, she’s kept her bright light shining.
To give her the best chance at healing, Charite has been placed on medical leave from work so she can rest, recover, and reduce the risk of infections during treatment. But as many know, healing takes time — and life’s expenses don’t take a break.
We’re reaching out to our community — friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers — to help offset Charite’s living costs and medical expenses while she’s off work. Every donation, big or small, will go toward giving her the peace of mind to focus on healing, not finances.
