Help Prevent Lisa and Andrew from being Homeless
Thank you for checking out this charity that is intended to help
Andrew Weisbeck, Lisa Heusner, and our animals from becoming
homeless! Right now is a terrifying time in our lives and we need as
much help as we can get - we did have help that was supposed to
come, but didn't follow through so we are in a tight situation and
need to raise around $4000-5000 in less than ten days. I know that
is a high ask, but we are hoping enough people will share it and
support us to keep us from having to live on the street, a place
where we won't be able to keep our animals or even work.
We aren't picky about where we live - we'd appreciate space for
the animals and an extra bedroom for my stay at home office, but we
are not picky. We were planning on moving from our abusive corporate
landlords who had harassed us the last 18 months when I (Andrew)
lost a job and had trouble regaining employment. Lisa has worked two
jobs at 12 hours a day, but not at a very high salary and I had to
make a career change into Full Stack Development because I couldn't
get ANYWHERE to hire me - I got rejected for a graveyard grocery
stocking position. It has been an extremely difficult last two years
for us where we have barely scraped by, but have been completely
satisfied with what we have.
We didn't even expect that we would end up in this situation. I
had just started working on a Web 3.0 project and things were
looking up. Lisa was told that she was getting $5,000 back in taxes,
I was getting $2,500, our apartment complex had about $2,000 they
were supposed to find, and then a rental assistance company called
Telamon was supposed to pay over $4,000 in rent costs to make up for
the rent we were behind on. Both of our tax returns were held
forever and then found out we have to correct them which will take
months. Our apartment complex said they didn't have any
responsibility for rental assistance money they lost. Probably the
most cruel was the rental assistance company - I spent all of our
savings to catch us up on rent in March which was about $3,300 -
they were supposed to pay that money but because they couldn't do so
on time, I had to pay it to avoid being evicted by my rental
company. In fact, they still haven't paid for March, April, or May
as of yet and I don't think they intend to. They left us hanging
with no assistance and no plan.
We hoped that the parties involved would have some compassion
due to the pandemic, but unfortunately none was shown. In fact, the
rental assistance company Telamon was very crude to me on the phone
"for calling too much to see what was going on". Our
apartment complex has been absolutely cruel - they tried to evict us
during the moratorium when they weren't even allowed to and then
they also stopped taking rental assistance money from who we were
getting help from for no reason. One of the worst things they did
was a month ago.
I only had rent to pay for April and I asked if I could just pay
that money and then use Lisa's paycheck to catch us up when we had
the money to do so. Stonehenge Apartments said "They had to
receive both months up front and couldn't just take one month."
I was disappointed - we had other bills to pay and caught up on a
couple things and tried figuring when our rental assistance would
come. A week later, Stonehenge Rentals called again and said that if
I had that money still, I could pay for one month (knowing we
wouldn't have it). I told her that we had to catch up on some other
bills so we didn't have all of the money for rent but that literally
Lisa would get paid the next day and I could pay the months rent
then as soon as she got her money.
The Stonehenge worker told me that was too bad and "I
should have known better to hold onto the money and now she had to
file an eviction order against us as soon as possible." I was
very upset because I didn't have rent assistance yet and we also had
our Air Conditioning go out in North Carolina which is AWFUL! So I
kept calling the apartment complex for two weeks, begging them to
turn the AC on because our animals and us were suffering.
The Stonehenge Apartment Complex didn't respond until one day
when they said they would bring a portable AC unit down because our
actual unit was shot. The only thing was, they didn't bring a
portable AC unit - they brought me AN EVICTION NOTICE DATED FOR
APRIL 24th AND IT WAS MAY 5th! Way after they issued it. And it was
totally cruel to do to us. This is not the first time they refused
us service - we also went without an AC unit for two weeks last year
and without a dryer for a few months in the winter.
Lisa and I are a good couple who really love each other and our
animals and only really care about helping others and what little we
do share. Lisa works at NCHRC helping homeless drug addicted people
get food and supplies so they can survive living on the streets. I
just joined a DAO/Company as a Full Stack Developer very recently
and haven't been paid yet, but our mission is to spread diversity
and preserve cultural history for many different peoples including
Jamaicans, African Americans, Native Americans, and other
marginalized people.
We can't continue to work or really live our lives at all if we
can't get into a place - and I know its a longshot with our court
date coming up on the 23rd of May, but we haven't been able to find
help anywhere so were asking from friends and strangers. We would
really appreciate anything and are offering merchandise and I'm
offering to build websites for donations.
We always do our best to pay our bills on time and we are simple
people. We have just had horrible luck with money and haven't had
any time to recover before we lose our home. Anything y'all can
give, would be SOOO appreciated.
