My name is Kara and these are my gorgeous boys Nixon, Bronx and Reign. We are currently 2 months behind on rent after I left my abusive ex. Our rent is 1400/month and I also have to pay all utilities. Right now i currently owe 2800.00 in rent arrears.I will not lie, the landlord here has not been truthful since the beginning. He still has not paid me the 300.00 i had to pay when our furnace stopped on New Years Eve. Its was -50 at the time. He also failed to mention that our home had bedbugs (which we later found out, and he paid the teeatment) he also failed to mention the mouse infestation nor did he have it cleaned when we moved in which I also had to pay out of pocket. Im a fulltime student studying oil and gas administration. I also live with Mood disorder, depression/anxiety and hypertension. I live off student loans which is 756 a month. Out of this amount im required to pay 393.00 towards my tuition. I also receive saskatchewan disability which is 625. It should be 1375.00 but because they count student loans as income the deduct it penny for penny. Also because I am a fulltime online student I am not eligible for employment or rental supplement. I received a government grant in Nov which I paid Novembers and Decembers rent out of. I am still waiting for my doctor to fill out a medical so i can receive the disability grant. Our Landlord has been patient but as of Febrauary 15th he will be starting the process of legally evicting us. I have no one to help me. Ive reached out to all local organizations across Canada and have also called and emailed most churches in our city to see if they offer anykind of assistance in rent arrears and I have come up empty handed. We have been here a year and March 1st the lease is up. I have no childcare ( nor could I afford it) which makes it very hard to work with 5, 3 and 11 month old. I have never felt like such a failure in my entire life. My beautiful babies have suffered through so much because of lockdowns and closure and restrictions.
