More Than Local Music is dedicated to creating a platform for up and coming artists in the New York City Area. We hope to produce live outdoor music events around NYC with a focus on women, black, and lgbt artists.
But, we are so much more than your local fix for live music. The More Than Local project wants to ensure that there are safe, fun, and creative spaces for all people to enjoy.
The first event is scheduled for August at Washington Square Park with an all young black woman lineup. The events to follow will be eclectic and full of culture and color, including: DJ parties, Salsa nights, and open mics.
Chantal Mota, the founder, is a recent graduate from New York Law School and a born and raised Manhattanite. She hopes to use her education, experience, and connections in the NY music industry to cultivate community and fruitful platforms for emerging artists.
Crowd funding will help pay artists in the upcoming events, finance production costs, and allow the vision of this fun and colorful space to reach its full potential. Help us make More Than Local Music happen.
