Star is a much-loved friend and DJ whose charm and talents have touched people's lives all over the world.

Star has had multiple health problems recently which has resulted in medical expenses that are beyond her ability to pay. I call on everyone who knows Star (and, hey, those who don't too!) to chip in what they can to help out!

At the end of November, Star was taken by ambulance, after being found unconscious in her apartment, to the local ER,  immediately intubated and put on a ventilator. She was diagnosed with Meningitis, Pneumonia, Sepsis, Strep and had respiratory failure, renal failure, a pulmonary embolism, septic shock, an unknown heart condition and much much more. The Doctors told her she had an hour left to live if she hadn't been brought to the ER due to her severe condition. 

She was unconscious for half of her month long stay and after having the breathing tube removed, she could not speak. She worked very hard with the speech therapists to regain most of her voice. She also had to learn how to do very basic things we all take for granted, such as brush her teeth, feed herself, drink, stand up, walk with the assistance of a walker and everything else. Star still has no memory of November or most of December and her memory is unlikely to return. 

Unfortunately, since this emergency hospital stay occurred outside of CA, her health insurance won't pay for the in-patient physical rehab that the doctors wanted to send her to. Blueshield of CA is insisting that it will only be covered if she returns to CA. Unfortunately, her lungs were already severely damaged from Lymphoma and now they are permanently damaged even more. Now Star is even more susceptible to catching Covid and ending up right back in the ICU on a ventilator, so it is impossible for her to fly. Her heart races every time she just stands up and is frequently so dizzy, she can not get out of bed  

She now has a $7k (out of pocket maximum) bill due for this hospitalization and also needs to hire an in home nurse and PT which is not covered by insurance. Star's brain issues are preventing her from working, which is making her financial matters worse. 

Star will have a long road back to recovery and there are still many unknown factors, especially when it comes to her brain damage.
