Just shy of 3 years ago, Noah was seen by my Husband in Wallsboro, Alabama....right outside of Wetumpka. He was at a gas station and crossing a busy 4-lane highway all day. We tried to cathch him but he was just so scared. We followed him for days and got calls all week when he would show back up for food at different places. We never could get close enough to catch him though. We set several live traps for him but to no avail. Then, he decided to befriend a nice, elderly couple on a country road where he stayed and was being fed for several days. We have no idea where he came from, clearly no one was claiming ownership based on his emaciated condition. With the help of several people, he was able to trust enough to get the collar put on and a leash and be brought to safety. Since then, we chose to let him live his life out with us due to numerous health conditions he suffered. He suffered from serious gastrointestinal issues along with heartworms and other intestinal parasites. Though we cleared all that up (except for the tummy issues, those still remain and are a daily battle) sadly, now Noah is in Congestive Heart Failure. This is due to the damage done by the heartworms as well as the treatment to get rid of them. While mostly there are no lasting effects from heartworm treatment, the worms did so much damage to Noah's heart, the treatment only added to it. Noah is a happy, content baby who LOVES to run and play with his little furry friend "Wittle". We have been working with the Vet to adjust his medication as well as his diet to keep fluid off and healthy weight on. This has required weekly trips to the Vet along with constant adjustments to his medication and occasionally manually draining fluid off his abdomen. The cost is quite overwhelming as we JUST got home not too long ago after having to be gone for a few months to fight my Husband's battle with Cancer. Per the Vet, Noah still can have a good quality of life. He has all the signs of wanting to be healthy, his appetite is very good, he's still very playful, loves romping in the yard and chasing squirrels, etc....... so as long as these things are there, we feel we owe him some more time to be a dog, something he was shorted of for 3 years of his life. When Noah is tired, we will know and we will make the call then but for now, he's not tired, he's just fighting a battle that we don't want him to lose due to financial reasons. His medications alone are close to $400 a month and adding in weekly Vet visits, it's getting quite expensive. Any help you could give would be deeply appreciated. We built him an ark the day we found him (Follow him on FB at https://www.facebook.com/Build-Noahs-Ark-670033649711757/), now, we need to help him stay afloat.
