Baby David Reese was a happy, healthy 12-month-old baby two weeks ago.  Then, within a week, he was facing a life threatening condition that required an immediate liver transplant. His physicians still do not know what caused the liver failure.

Luckily, his mother Yelena, was an organ match and able to donate a portion of her liver to save his life. Transplant surgery was performed and today, Yelena is in stable condition and Baby David is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Both face 6-8 weeks of healing time and David will require medicine that costs between 2-4 thousand dollars per month for the foreseeable future.

As you can imagine this has been quite a shock for David’s father Mark who works at the Naval Academy in Annapolis and Yelena, who works at Johns Hopkins Medical Center. They have had their hands full with medical tests, logistics and insurance.

It is expected that the out of pocket cost will be in excess of 40 thousand dollars. This includes medical costs, co-pays, transportation, and in-home care for David (he can no longer go to daycare).

If you know Mark and Yelena, they are not the type of people who would ask for help. For this reason, we set this site up for them, as it is sorely needed.

The money donated will be used to pay for medical expenses not covered by insurance and to help with daily living expenses. Please keep Baby David, Yelena and Mark in your thoughts and prayers. Your generous donations are sincerely appreciated.

With sincere appreciation,
