In the midst of doing things we love, we can find ourselves facing a bigger uphill climb than we can handle on our own. This is a call to help for one of our own.

Many of you have known Janet for years. Some may be meeting her for the first time today. She is a loving mother who has been involved at Westside Church in Central Oregon for decades. She has been serving on the hospital ministry team, trying to help when people find themselves in hard circumstances. Bringing her cheer to brighten up their day.

Janet has been a teacher in the Bend-Lapine School district and has been involved in her community for years. Now she needs her communities help.

This is the beginning of a new chapter for Janet. In May 2014, Janet went for a hike near Prineville, like she does often. Unfortunately, on this day she would find herself in a dire situation trying to fight just to get back home. After a terrible fall, a face plant on a rock, Janet herself with a 45 minute hike back to the car, so she could get help. Being the tough determined woman she is, Janet made the hike back to her car with almost every bone broken on the left side her face including her jaw.

As we all know, hospital bills can be astornomical, even with insurance. As a substitue teacher Janet found herself with a catostrophic injury, just three months from the age of Medicare. The hospital did their best to help her in signing up for insurance. Unfortunately this will not help witht the costs of: her prescriptions, the reconstructive surgery on her face, or the hit to her finances by not being able to go back to work before school is out for the summer break.

At her latest Doctors appointment, the doctor said the surgery was necessary and was needed within three weeks to be most effective. This is because past that the bones will start to reheal in the wrong place. One of the bones has moved up toward her eye and is almost sticking out. He told her surgery will be between $10,000 and $15,000.

Janet is doing her best to come up with a solution. Being as prideful as most of us would be or have been in a situation when we needed help she has tried to solve this on her own. She is selling her car and some furniture if anyone is interested. Her family has also done their best to help with the bills they can cover. It is important we help so she can get the needed surgery and keep her house she has worked so hard for.

So now its our turn. We are her community. She has invested in us for years. It is our turn as her community to give back. This is our opportunity to show love to Janet in a tangible way. Letting her know, how much we appreciate her and all she has invested. So how can we help?

Here are a couple ways.

First and foremost, please pray. Prayer for quick healing as well prayer for financial obligations through this situation to be met.

Second is you can donate. Donate your time. Vist her. Love on her. Things will need done she can not do for a while. House cleaning, yard work, prepping her car for sell. Etc.

And lastly, donate showing monitary love. Yes, I am talking about giving your best gift. Opening your wallet to help another out. There is a lot of it needed here. Please do your best to show your love in this way. This site makes it easy.
