Danielle Tomison hasn't added a story.
This little sweetie in the picture is my daughter Kalista. She turned 3 in January just after she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, a disease with no cure. As parents of a type one diabetic child Nick and I are her life support each day, she is insulin dependent so without her having at least 5 daily injections she could get very ill and die. Night time is the scariest time for both us as parents and Kali because blood sugar can drop so rapidly that it can cause seizures or death. As a child she is unaware of changes in blood sugar and can't alert us if there is a change between our usual check times through out the night. There is however a small miracle that can help us as a family, it's called a D.A.D, a diabetic alert dog. From birth these puppies are scent trained to catch changes in blood sugar even before a meter can, then they are taught to alert the parents of the diabetic to fix either with insulin or sugar depending on if it's a high or low. We have found our miracle and her name is Daisy! :) We will be getting Daisy in June however we still have to fundraise and hold benefits for Kalista to be able to pay for Daisy and the expenses that come with her. Currently we have this account as well as a donation account at US BANK," A diabetic alert dog for Kali" both are tax deductible. Any help is appreciated. We thank you so very much!
