She was born in Guanajuato, Mexico. Came to the U.S. when she was 2 years old. Always knew she was undocumented but did not understood what it meant until she brought up the idea of attending college to her parents.
She learned what college was when she was in 8th grade. The first university she was introduced to was the University of Texas at Austin. She knew that someday she had to go there.
Despite the uncertainty, now going into her fourth year at UT Austin.
She did not know that there were many other students in her situation but when she entered UT, she found others also struggling. She joined the student organization, University Leadership Initiative, where she grown so much in the undocumented immigrant youth movement.

She very grateful to her parents for bringing her to the U.S. in their struggle for survival; and for sacrificing everything in order to keep her family together. "I wish to see every family as blessed as mine and that is what drives me to join others to put an end to the separation and deportation of families." Something that Juana has always told me.
She want to continue growing in the movement and sharing everything she have learned with other emerging leaders.
Though through the organization she was involved with, she have helped others fill out their Deferred Action application, unfortunately she have not submitted her DACA due to financial constraints. That is why she does not want this to continue hindering her as she struggle to complete her degree.

"I humbly ask you all to help me finance my DACA so that I may obtain a working permit which will allow me to finance the rest of my education.
I strive to continue helping others, but I have learned that sometimes, it is okay to help myself." - Juana

Big thanks to those who have helped her get this far!"
