Danielle Sandelin hasn't added a story.
My sister and brother-in-law recently had their son premature @ 29 weeks (11 weeks early) Rhys Harris Lackore (2 lbs. 5.9 oz.) was born 1/22/13 to Matt and Gina (Doughty) Lackore. He was born premature because Gina developed a life threatening condition known as Pre-eclampsia with HELLP Syndrome. Gina was initially admitted to the hospital for a week but was sent home due to improvement but had to come back because of the development of the HELLP Syndrome. After delivery Gina developed a large DVT that again required more hospitalization. After being discharged she again had some serious clotting issues and is currently awaiting test results.
Rhys was born by emergency C-section and came into the world with great gusto. He has been doing well, initially breathing on his own, then requiring a vent and then on his own again. Rhys has grown quite a bit from only 2 lbs. 5.9 oz. to 5lbs. 7 oz. Rhys was able to go home on 3/19/13 but was then rehospitalized after developing swallowing difficulties and pneumonia. He is currently at the hospital slowly improving.
As you all know medical care is expensive, even with insurance there is a deductible and then often the insurance only covers 80%. In addition to this Gina will be unable to work for at least 3 months and she will not receive any pay. Both Gina and Rhys will have multiple Dr. Appointments over the course of the next 1-2 years and this will all create an enormous strain for them financially. Many friends and family have contributed support, care, and food to them over this last month and they are very grateful. Matt and Gina have at a minimum a deductible of at least $12,000. The Neonatal intensive Care Unit is at least $70,000/day and that does not include Gina's surgeries and healthcare, nor does it include drugs or other interventions for Rhys. They are facing bills anywhere from $12,000 to over $1 million and that does not include the loss of 1 income and future healthcare needs over the next few years.
Matt and Gina would never ask for this kind of help and I think that is precisely why we should help them. I know that many, many people care for and love Matt, Gina and Rhys and if everyone of us donates $10 to $100 or more we can help make a very large dent in the bills that they are accumulating and will have to pay. Please donate and post this to your social media and to your contacts. The money donated through this safe website, by BBB accredited means, will go a long way to lessening some of the stresses Matt and Gina face. Please join me in opening your pocketbooks as much as you each open your hearts. Anything helps, even $1. Updates for Rhys are posted on Matt's Facebook and Danielle and I will also forward them to ours. Please feel free to pray, send wishes, and love.
With much Love and Appreciation,
Roger & Danielle (Doughty) Sandelin
