Mark Pendlebury is in need of a kidney and pancreas transplant. Mark is 33 and has been a Type1 Diabetic since he was four years old. He has been married to Lisa for 13 years. They have two wonderful daughters: Kelley is 11 and Emlyn is 7.
Mark has been in the early stages of kidney failure for several years, but his condition deteriorated quite rapidly this past summer. He had to start dialysis immediately and was put on the transplant list.
Mark is trying to continue to work full time to support his family as a Sonic Drive In Manager, but that has brought about some surprising issues with receiving assistance with his medical bills. Because he is still trying to work and has insurance, few of the hospitals and medical centers will negotiate copays or deductibles. If he had gone on disability right away this would all be a non issue. As a dialysis patient, you are able to get medicare eventually, regardless of your employment status. However, there were months of hospital stays and dialysis bill built up.
Mark and Lisa are working very hard to maintain the normalcy in their home for their daughters. They both continue to work full time, while trying to juggle doctors appointments, hospital stays, surgery's, and dialysis 3 times a week. They were originally trying to do everything by themselves, but the burden has become too great.
Please help this family stay above water. Please consider donating to Mark's transplant fund. Thank you so much!
