As you all may know, every year I try to do a charity fundraiser for either a group of people or a particular family. This year I had been putting it off for one reason or another. I couldn't out my finger on it but there was definitely a reason for my delay. All was clear this morning when I read an email for an extraordinary women a met a few weeks back. Helen Kulungian had come to our office a few weeks back with gift baskets from Snookies Cookies thanking us for a recent business transaction. I would have never known from the smile on her face the pain that must fill her heart everyday. Her granddaughter Lilly Belle Kunlungian was diagnosed with Malignant Infantile Osteoporosis at a very young age. She is about 3 years old now and is still undergoing chemo and surgeries. The minute I read her email, I knew my purpose. I am writing you today in hopes of collecting donations to help Lilly Belle and to find a cure for this disease. We waste so much money on things we don't need but when it comes to making donations, people are normally quite hesitant. We can all do without a few extra pairs of shoes and that fancy purse that we just cant live without. The donations that I'm asking for are something these little kids cant live without. Accompanying the email is a little video that briefly shows what this sweet child has had to endure the past few year. We have all had to endure the pain of watching a loved one suffer at one point or another, but it fails in comparison to what little Lilly's parent must be going through on a daily basis. I ask that we all come together and help not only Lilly but all other children that may have this disease. I often hear people say that "I'm only one person, what difference will my donation make". My response to that is a snowflake is just fragile little flake, but once they come together, they can create an avalanche. Lets all come together and be the avalanche that destroys this disease.
