Hi friends. As many of you know, in April 2025, I was diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer. I was 48 years old and it came out of nowhere.
Before I say anything else, I want you to know who you're supporting.
“Cam is a bright light who shows up for everyone around her without asking for anything in return, way more comfortable giving than receiving. She's stronger than most people I know, and life has definitely tested her. She’s built a vibrant community for women and a relationship-focused real estate business, and in both she's committed to helping people feel connected and supported. She's also navigating the hard reality of being 1400 miles away from her teenage son — but when life gets heavy, she’s probably making art or out dancing to live music, totally in her element.
Her friends basically had to drag her into this fundraiser, and even then she insisted on a way to give something back (donors at higher levels will receive custom art notecard sets she made herself) because that's just who she is.”
Whether I'm hosting events, supporting clients and friends, or simply showing up with an open heart and a sense of humor, I care deeply about creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and fully alive. Asking for help hasn’t come naturally to me. But the people in my life keep showing up and convincing me otherwise, and cancer, of all things, is finally teaching me to let them. That's not a small thing for me. It's everything.
Since my diagnosis, I’ve had one of the hardest years of my life. So far I’ve had a mastectomy and started reconstruction, and I have additional surgeries ahead: more reconstruction, an oophorectomy or hysterectomy, and hernia repair. My original surgeries were cancelled due to insurance issues and a surgeon leaving the state of New Mexico, which meant a five-month delay before I could even begin recovery. When surgery finally happened, I suffered severe pain for nearly two months, then an emergency second surgery, then urgent care for allergic reactions. What was supposed to be a 2–3 week recovery turned into two months of complications.
The surgeries were successful. All the cancer is gone! Let me repeat: all the cancer is gone! I'm grateful I didn't need radiation or chemo. I have an incredible team of women supporting my care. BUT next surgery is coming in August, with more after that.
This year has taken a real toll, it’s been hard – physically, emotionally, and financially. The waiting, the uncertainty, and the complications have affected my income and piled on costs that insurance doesn't fully cover, with more bills still arriving.
Most painfully, I haven't been able to spend the time I want with my son Kaden. The inability to travel and the weight of expenses have kept us apart in ways that have broken our hearts.
I'm turning 50 in June. After everything, I want to meet this milestone with some peace, and I desperately want a good summer with Kaden, without being crushed by the financial stress of bills now and as more surgeries lie ahead.
One of my biggest comforts during this time of struggle has been making art. I’ve spent hours getting lost in drawing, and this practice has helped me manage this whole experience.
It’s a humbling thing to ask for support and I don’t do so
lightly. In exchange for support you may be able to offer, I’d love
to share some of my art with you.
The fact is that even when the world is scary (and it’s been a scary year!), beauty exists. I’m outrageously grateful for my network of friends and family who see me and value me, and I have hope for a long, bright future.
Any support — big or small — means more than I can say. Please consider sharing this campaign with friends as well! Thank you for being part of my world.
