My name is Brett and I’m a Canadian theatre educator currently pursuing my MFA in Theatre (Pedagogy). I’ve dedicated my career to helping students discover their voices, build confidence, and develop empathy through the power of performance.

This summer, I’ve been accepted into an incredible opportunity: the Teacher Development Program (TDP) with the National Alliance of Acting Teachers in Los Angeles. It’s a two-week, hands-on training intensive focused on transformative acting pedagogy, including techniques like Michael Chekhov, Viewpoints, and inclusive teaching practices. The TDP is a perfect complement to my MFA, which is entirely online. This in-person training will strengthen my teaching practice and allow me to bring world-class, cutting-edge methods back to my students and community.

I’ve received a partial scholarship from the Alliance and have applied for travel funding through my university—but it’s still not enough. Between tuition, flights, and accommodations in LA, I’m facing a gap of around $1,000 that I just can’t manage on my own right now, especially while paying for grad school.
