I’m Shelly Bergman. Mechele, Jamie and I have been friends for over 30 years. If you know me, you know I hold a very tight circle of friends for a reason. Mechele is like the sister I never had. I tell her everything. Jamie is like a brother to me. He treats my best friend like a queen.

As many of you know, Mechele is  still recovering from cancer she battled for several months in 2022/2023. Because of this, she has not been able to work, as the side effects of radiation has forced her to work on healing her body instead. Which leaves little income. She is getting VA benefits, but as everyone knows, our government treats our veterans like garbage. 

As if that wasn’t enough, the morning of Saturday, December 21st, Jamie was taken by squad to St. Rita’s after suffering a heart attack. On top of that, he underwent an over two hour open heart surgery with almost 100% blockage in three arteries. Although the surgery went well, he has a lot stacked against him with other health issues that could lengthen his recovery.  Jamie has had to undergo a SECOND surgery and will be in the hospital for at LEAST a month! Adding more and more to their financial burden. 

The doctor discussed his recovery shortly after his surgery was complete. He will most likely be in the hospital for a week, after which, will spend many weeks in therapy. With the hospital stay, therapy, surgery, and everything in between, Jamie will be out of work for many more weeks. Jamie and Mechele are now down to a half of an income.
