Paul was arrested doing a street show at Hollywood beach, near Miami.
He asserted his free speech rights but the police confiscated his equipment, handcuffed him, and charged him with resisting arrest without violence and trying to escape. The Police say that’s a felony charge with a maximum of 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Paul needs a lawyer but doesn't have the funds for a lawyer.
He spent two nights in jail already and has a court date in 30 days. If he fails to appear for court they will issue a warrant for his arrest. If he is convicted he'll do serious time.
He was just doing a street show.
Donating to this cause is extremely important, because if you are a busker, one day it might happen to you. Paul needs to fight this charge, and when he wins, it will be a win for all street performers.
This is an opportunity to make a winning example case that can be referred to, if and when, another busker is arrested for busking.
