Hi, my name is Anna and I am raising funds to help a young Ukrainian man fighting in Donbas for Ukraine to get night vision goggles (thermographic camera). Not every soldier in Ukraine is equipped with the items they need, and often their families have to buy the items that are needed (even helmets, and vests) This soldier, like many in the Ukrainian army, does not come from a rich family. His sister reached out because they do not have the money to buy him this essential equipment. For reference, the average monthly income for Ukrainian citizens is 498.274 USD.
Large organizations have down well but the process is long and difficult to get help for individuals. The fastest and most personally effective volunteer efforts have been small grassroots efforts. Our friends in Ukraine are volunteering by buying and distributing thermographic cameras. We already have news of a shipment, but need the funds to secure this camera for the soldier in Donetsk.
What is a thermographic camera? A thermographic camera displays images in terms of heat generated. This allows people to identify other individuals in the area regardless of weather or light conditions. This is especially important at night and during the winter, when rain or snow may prevent someone from seeing around them clearly. This piece of equipment saves soldiers' lives.
My family and I emigrated from Ukraine in 2002 and the majority of our family are still in Ukraine. We want to help in any way we can. Living in safety is something many of us have taken for granted. The courageousness of Ukrainian soldiers protecting their homes against a superpower with a military budget 10x as large shows the overall character of Ukraine, whose citizens have always strived for the betterment of their country. Unwavering passion and determination are found in Ukrainian citizens, especially those volunteering and giving their lives to protect Ukraine.
