Hello, everyone :)
For those of you who have no clue of who I am, let me quickly
introduce myself.
My name is Kate, I am a 25 year old girl living
in Greece, my pronouns are she/her and I am a part of the LGBTQ+
community. I have about 20 cats (yes, that is true) and one dog. I
love to draw, write listen to music, watch tv shows/movies and play
video games, go for long walks on the beach and ride horses. I also
really love gardening.
This isn't something I normally do. In fact, this is something I
never do. And doing it right now, asking for help for myself in that
way, makes me feel all weird inside, it's a feeling I can't really
explain, but here I am because I've no other choice anymore. Due to my
health issues (physical and mental) and my current living situation, I
can't work. I tried finding a job last year, because being tied down
is not something I enjoy, and I ended up having to quit after only 4
days because my boss was emotionally abusive to me and that made me
feel like a piece of trash or worse. Since then I haven't been able to
d anything, and I keep relying on my parents for support which isn't
ideal considering they don't like me very much (we live together too),
and they're also going through stuff of their own.
'Wynonna Earp' came into my life 3 years ago, as it did with
most of you, at a time where I desperately needed something to help
keep me going forward, something to help me stay away from the edge of
the cliff and make me turn the other way. It truly saved my life like
no other show has ever done before, and so did the cast.
Over
the last few months, I have shared parts of my story here and there,
and I've gotten so much love and support in return. Both from you
guys, the Earpers (my amazing family) and some of the cast. (Most
recently, I got a tattoo in Melanie's handwriting - still crying about
it btw). This show, the people involved in it & the fandom... they
mean the world to me, and I just want to be able to thank them in
person, not just online. I want to be able to give them hugs, look
them in the eyes and tell them 'thank you'. I want to meet as many
Earpers as I can and experience a whole weekend, if not more, with
them. No family like the Earpers, if you're not one of us you're
definitely missing out, trust me.
I did some math and the cost of a convention in Europe, for me,
would be at around 1000 euros more or less. That money will help cover
the plane tickets, convention pass & extras, as well as food &
a fairly cheap to medium priced hotel for the weekend). I'm putting
the final goal at 1300, as there are other expenses I will need to
take care of (such as ferry boat rides, bus rides.. transportation to
and from the city in general - I live on an island - and more food for
while I'm in the city - although I will be staying at my aunt's, she's
unemployed and I would like to be able to help her a little if I can).
I know this is a lot to ask of anyone, and please don't feel
obligated. But, if you can help, even in a small way, it would be so
very appreciated :'( <3 Even if all you do is share this, again, so
appreciated! Every bit counts more than you realize, no matter how you
decide to help <3
At the end of the day (as the expression says) it might not be a
convention dedicated to the show 100%, as those are hard to come
across in Europe (besides the UK, I guess, but that's a bit too
expensive for me - more than anything else), but it will include most
of, but hopefully, the entire cast.
