I first met Pixie overseas in Korea back in 2009. She had already completed gastric bypass and was continuing to work to lose weight and was having excess skin removal surgeries. We almost lost her during some of these surgeries. To some Pixie is just a person, but to those of us who served and some who continue to serve she is more than just a person. She's the one who brought us into her home and fed us at her table during holidays, helped us through personal struggles, gave us a family when we didn't have our own in the area. She has continued this love for veterans even after her husband was retired. Together they do everything they can to help veterans fulfill dreams and they're always there to answer that call no matter what. Pixie has managed to make it down from her initial weight of 575 lbs down to 240 lbs. She needs a medical procedure to remove roughly 50 lbs of excess skin so that she can gain more mobility. Although this is considered a medically necessary surgery, insurance refuses to cover it because a plastic surgeon would have to perform this procedure. After doing so much for so many of us who have served our country, I ask that you help us give back to Pixie so that she can live a better quality of life that she more than deserves to lead.
