Being in a hospital can be a scary thing. Especially, if you are a child or even a brand new parent. Nearly 60,000 different children and their families walk through the doors at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR) each year. Some may be there for short-term issues, such as broken bones, the flu, or a jaundiced newborn. Others might be in for more extensive health care needs, such as chronic of life threatening diseases or disabilities.  No matter the reason, don't you wish you could just reach out and give them a HUGE hug?! This is an amazing opportunity to reach out and show you care by giving them a Cuddle Bear Set!!

A few days after my son was born in 2016, he had to be admitted to the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU because he was quite jaundiced. Despite having doctors and nurses explain what was going on and was needed to be done, as a new mother, I was feeling upset and confused about the whole ordeal. Those that worked with us were very caring and were soon able to assure us that my son would be ok and that they would do their best to make sure his condition improved and get us out of there as soon as possible. My son did improve enough for us to go home the next day and a plan was set in place with the doctors to help make sure he continued to improve while at home. He is now a happy and healthy 2.5 year old!

For me, I'd like to give these wonderful doctors and nurses additional tools to help bring some comfort and happiness to the patients at the children's hospital. Something to show them that someone out there cares for them an is rooting for them no matter what the reason is for their stay. Together we can help provide them with that extra comfort and hope!
