Environmental activists locked down to concrete-filled trash cans at the entrance to the West Lake Landfill. They wanted to bring attention to the radioactive waste that was illegally dumped there and demand it be cleaned up.

Earth Defense Coalition and SoulFire caravan combined to enact a hard blockade at the entrance to the transfer station and truck exit for Republic Services in WestLake/Bridgeton Landfill. This is to demand remediation by FUSRAP (Army Corp of Engineers) after decades of EPA inaction. This action is completely nonviolent and peaceful. It remains to be seen whether the LE response is also nonviolent. After years of intense burning in a landfill cheek by jowl with nuclear waste, and no grid testing to establish the actual location of the thorium and uranium and special nuclear materials present, local activists have chosen to put their own bodies on the line.
