Hello Friends,

For the past 9 years I have worked for American Eagle Outfitters.

During our 'Back to School' campaign this year, we raised money for schools by selling backpacks. A percentage of these proceeds were donated to schools and educational organizations across the country. A great cause!

Since we were not able to sell all of the backpacks that we were given, I am able to donate the remaining backpacks to a charity of my choice.

I decided to take this a step further and encourage my friends, family, and the community to fill these backpacks with school supplies to benefit children in need.

We have 20 bags that can be filled with educational supplies.

I have partnered with Books with No Bounds,an organization (based in Oakville, ON) dedicated to providing books and educational supplies to children in Indigineous communities in Northern Ontario, Canada, and the world.

These backpacks will go to children in Fort Severn, ON. This specific community, has no school and only 5 portables.

Due to its remote location, school supplies are very sparse, and if they are available, they are very expensive.

Any money raised will be used to purchase school supplies for this community.

I have been informed that books are already in abundance, and that their greatest needed is school supplies as well as materials for arts and crafts (i.e pencils, glue sticks, rulers, pencil crayons, pens, erasers, pencil sharpeners etc.)

Any additional funds will be given to Books with No Bounds in order to pay for shipping costs to this remote community.

Literacy rates are directly tied to a childs educational and professional success.

We must ensure that communitiies in need are equipped with the resources that they require to ensure they can provide a meaningful learning atmosphere.

Regarding the title, Ubi Caritas, is in reference to the Christian hymn:

"Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est."

Translated from Latin, this means: "Where there is charity and love, God is there."

Whether you believe in God, the Creator, Jesus Christ, Muhammad, Yahweh, Shiva, Buddha, or don't believe in God at all...

There is room in all of our hearts to help the needy this Christmas season.
