Jim's Journey
My name's Dawn and my younger brother and I share the care for my Dear Dad Jim. I started a page on facebook called "Jim's Journey" https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jims-Journey/1504347356444526
which is a blog following the daily challenges of Dads journey in life after suffering a large stroke and his fight to get back his independence and hopefully walk again with his beloved dog Charlie by his side.
Sadly over the last 2 and a half years, Dads health has declined due to his lack of mobility and seizures. This is made worse because of no disbled access to the outside world from his home, which sits above a flight of very steep steps.
After spending large amounts of time indoors during our long winters, I do my very best every Summer to get Dad to his Caravan. Dad and Mum spent many happy years at their caravan with their westie Charlie (now 17yrs). Mum suffered a very painfull illness and even in the last 10 years of her life whilst Dad cared for her, they chose to spend every precious moment they could, in their caravan with Charlie by their side.
Only 6 months after we lost Mum, Dad suffered a large stroke, causing complete right side weakness and expressive dysphasia. This means he has difficulty expressing himself through speech.
Through all this, he never complains. All he asks for in life, Is to get to his caravan, where there he is at peace in the countryside, breathing in the fresh air and feeling the sun on his face.
Sadly getting heavier and less able to manoeuvre, my usual routine of getting Dad in and out of the caravan on a chair using ramps with the assistance of others, has become impossible.
I'd love for you to help me raise money to buy my Dad a step lift. This will enable me to be able to get him in and out of his caravan. Without this, I see no other way of managing.

Charlie my Dads doggy has also suffered a stroke and prone to regular seizures like Dad. He is a very old man in dog years and sadly might not make the caravan this Easter. Fingers crossed, we can all be together in the caravan soon......cosy, watching Easter Sunday TV and munching on chocolate eggs!
Please help!
