"If you're not part of the solution, then you may be part of the problem"...I believe this with all my heart.

The Green Garden Basket (Saturday food distribution) Began almost 10 years ago. I saw a need and started the journey fulfill it. My goal? To do what Dave had been doing for several years. (More about "Dave" later)

The GGB's (green Garden Basket) primary focus is our Seniors. To insure free greens are accessible to assist in maintaining a (healthy) diet of their choosing. GGB provides the community with all kinds of organic fruits and vegetable donated by our local farmers and bread from our #1 local bakery. Without whom there would be no distribution.

In order to prioritize our Seniors without the exclusion of the rest of the community, GGB is structured to serve in groups: 1a, 1b, 2, and 3. Group 1a is for our seniors, that are physically challenged who are in need of time and a pace that allows free movement. Group 1b is for seniors, pregnant mamma's, swaddling mamma's and papa's, and non Senior physically challenged. Group 2 is for the over 50's and families with small children. Group 3 is for anyone not in group 1a, 1b, or 2. :-) Basically the general public. Note: some of our seniors are more spunky than our third groupers! lol

One reason the GGB is successful is it's word of mouth. There is no advertizing, profiling, or glory seeking. (ok, Face Book is a form of advertizing.) This keeps the number of visitors at a naturally organic rate. Winter less, Summer, more. It just works.

Another reason, the primary reason the GGB has been successful is continuity. It is extremely important for the community to be able to rely on the fact that food will be delivered to the location on the day and time prescribed. In order to maintain this continuity, reliable transportation and volunteers are key. Currently, the volunteers are rock steady! Yeah! However, the transportation is not. (more on volunteers)

Originally this page was intended to give friends and families of the GGB notices, updates and media about the farmers. Now, I see this page also helping the GGB in a time of need. Bottom line...A truck is needed.

The original "Green Beastie" is gone. Never to return. It carried the GGB through some great times. Though the "Green Beastie" will never be replaced, a new generation must begin.

I ASK: ANYONE WITH THE ABILITY, INCLINATION, WILL, DESIRE, WANT, OR NEED...TO DONATE TO THE GREEN GARDEN BASKET "TRUCK FUND". TODAY! OR DONATE A TRUCK! YEAH!!!

Although I have always used my own personal transportation to get the job done, it has been my experience that a vehicle not used daily is a more efficient way to maintain the continuity of the GGB food distribution. I also know that when my own truck would want a "rest"...it caused a lot of problems logistically.

For several years It has been a goal to attain separate transportation solely for the GGB. My hope is that by finally having the time to address this matter properly, The GGB will be successful in this endeavor.

To: Dave. Thank you for all the support you have given the BBG past and present. For inspiring me to do the same community work you have been doing for over 25 years. Your dedication and commitment is amazing. I'm happy to have you as a friend and fellow community provider. Let it be known, Dave has been lending me "his" truck for the past several months to help me keep the the food distribution going. I know he say's it's not a problem and he's just supporting the program...there comes a point. lol I love you very much Dave!

To: The Volunteers. To say "the volunteers are rock steady" is to find the pearl in the oyster! Over the years many people have offered to help with the GGB...very few were able to handle the task. For those of you who stepped up, I say thank you.

Being a single mother and having a league Volleyball player, Saturday's were often game days during the season. With the help of volunteers, I was able to maintain good standing with my two families. Again, I thank you all. (you know who you are)

Currently, I have regular volunteers that have made my life with the GGB much more flexible. In the past, I did the whole market and distribution and clean-up myself. (I was younger then) Now, I look forward to the distribution knowing that the vegetables and bread will arrive on time, in full and everyone will be served. That the clean-up will happen with or without me.

To: The "Elves Crew" These are the people who over the years also saw a need and decided to fulfill it. After each distribution, there's clear evidence of lively participation in the getting of food. lol

Without ever having to be asked, a few solid  people always stick around to make sure the property that is used for the distribution is cleaned up and ready to go! 

Everyone helps out once in a while...me included! These folks make it happen! I cant tell you how many times I realized time had passed with some alarm, only to find everything is done. Like Magic!

After a long day of prep and traffic...let me tell you...the" Elves Crew" is greatly appreciated. (you know who you are)
