Hi Everyone,

This is my second year participating in  homeschool Speech and Debate through the NCFCA*(www.ncfca.org) league.  This year I qualified in my Illustrated Oratory speech to go to the 2014 NCFCA National Championship at Patrick Henry College in Virginia.

Twenty friends and I from Kitsap County, WA competed in speech and debate tournaments around Idaho, Oregon, and Washington over the past eight months in pursuit of an invitation to the national tournament.  Two weekends ago, thirteen of us got one step closer and competed with 200 other students from the western United States at the Regional Invitational Tournament in Spokane, Washington.

At the Regional Tournament, five of us earned the chance to compete at the National Tournament next month.   The average cost per competitor to attend the tournament is about $1500 (air fare, hotel, car rental, food, tournament entry fee).  I am trying to raise the funds to pay for my trip in the next few weeks.

Will you please pray that my friends (Collin, Abbie, Preston, and Austin) and I will use our talents to the glory of God and have a safe trip.  Also, if possible, please consider helping me by making a donation to help with travel expenses.   Any amount that you are able to give will help me get to the national tournament.

Thank you so much!

Carly Tizzano

*The NCFCA is helping me to develop the skills to become a successful and persuasive speaker.  Did you know that public speaking is the number one phobia for most people?  NCFCA students, often with a nudge by their parents, have taken the first step in overcoming this fear and transforming themselves into individuals who can clearly and effectively communicate their ideas to others.   NCFCA students spend hours researching topics and then take that knowledge and write speeches.  During this process of researching, writing, and speaking, they build good character from their failures and successes, learn good work ethics and teamwork, develop critical and logical thinking skills, and improve interpersonal communication skills.
