When our volunteers saw this shelter picture of Shadow, we knew we had to act quickly! It took a village but we were able to arrange transport from the panhandle to SFL and his recovery is a miracle! 

Shadow was found abandoned in a wilderness preserve in the panhandle of Florida. This gorgeous Doberman was craving love and when he finally came upon people in the wilderness he ran to them and stuck to them like velcro! He was skin and bones and very weak. We got all of our contacts into gear and were able to bring him down to a wonderful foster home here in S FL. He gained weight well and blossomed into an amazing boy, but his journey is far from over. We still need to get him through his complete heartworm treatment. Our pets are all in loving foster homes, and have been thoroughly quarantined for disease once coming out of shelters. 
Our rescue does not pass the cost of the emergency medical care on to adopters. We charge a flat fee of $200 for puppies and $150 for dogs, $75 for cats and kittens, $50 for rabbits, no matter what the breed, no matter how much their emergency vet bill, no matter what the situation. This donation fee covers just the basic care required for adoption: vaccinations and boosters, deworming, microchip, spay/neuter, food, basic care like grooming and transport. We honor this policy because we believe no pet is "worth more" than any other, and every pet deserves an equal chance at a happy life.
