Our mission team needs help purchasing educational supplies to take to rural Nicaraguan school children during our trip scheduled February 9-15, 2014.  Any funding assistance you are able to provide will go directly to purchasing classroom supplies such as pencils, pens, paper, erasers, folders, chalkboards, craft supplies, positive encouragement products, sports equipment, etc. as well as general housing construction products.  Any amount God puts on your heart to give is greatly appreciated.

Our 9 member team from Springfield, MO consists of members from Wesley United Methodist Church, Schweitzer UMC and Campbell UMC. All team members are paying for their own flight and trip experiences, so all donations will go directly to serving the children and families on our trip.

Our construction and education focused mission team is working through the Rainbow Network (www.rainbownetwork.org). We will be visiting Rainbow Network projects throughout rural Nicaragua such as schools, feeding centers, medical clinics, housing communities and micro-loan programs.

Half our days will be helping to build cement block homes within one of the Rainbow Network's housing communities.  Families that will be going from a stick hut with mud floors to a cement block home, work right alongside mission volunteers in helping build their first safe and sanitary living space. Families develop a sense of ownership by paying back cost of materials with a no-interest 10- to 20-year Rainbow Network loan, and take part in the Microloan business program to help them build a sustainable future. The pride and empowerment built through this model transfers into responsibility and lifelong benefits for homeowners and their children.

The Rainbow Network was founded in Springfield, MO and is an established faith based charity in rural Nicaragua providing hope through innovative, integrated and sustainable solutions that enable the poor of Nicaragua to break the cycle of poverty and become self-sufficient – resulting in improved quality of life.

Each of us believe it’s our obligation to give freely of our abilities, time, and love. Thank you for your prayers and support!
