Micha was injured by trespassing children, beaten and scared until he had a choice: hurt the kids or try to escape through a wire gate. He chose the gate and as a result bowed a rear suspensory tendon and his entire leg into his spine. His owner, me, is disabled and can no longer afford to borrow money to try to get him care and keep up with special feed. He needs chiropractic, special farrier services, medications, vet care and supplements and Hay! Right now he needs a larger pasture. He still has a chance of healing but is in dire need of proper care for out of adjustment spine and weight loss. The kid's mom and step dad refuse to take responsibility, they promise payment but just like the promise to keep their kids OFF our property, they have broken that also and not one thin dime of 3K in vet bills have been paid by them. We are broke trying to care for him and the horse we rescued, Belle, to keep him company while he was confined in a very small area. Belle is recovered and for sale. Micha remains unrideable and in typical Haflinger style, he's gotten way over weight so we need to find them a larger pasture so he can exercise himself as I cannot hand walk him as I am now using a cane or stick to walk. He was my THERAPY horse and 2 years of no Physical therapy has rendered me almost totally crippled from an old spinal injury and other health issues have made it impossible for me to work outside the home. I reopened my old jewelry art business to raise funds for them but it's not nearly enough. Every little bit helps. The bills are on going and if we can't keep him fed and get him to a chiropractor soon, he will not make it. I have made him and Belle available to local mental health care specialists for use in 'horse therapy' for PTSD and trauma clients free of charge. It was my intention when I bought him to ride him for my spinal therapy and train him to help returning Veterans and their families with PTSD and communication therapy. The latter may still be possible. Micha is a mature 17 years old and Halfingers are one of the very long lived breeds and they live to ripe old ages of mid to late 20's are not uncommon for them to hit 30. He has a lot to give and is just the most loving and caring horse.
