Matthew Ruth hasn't added a story.
In 2003 two drug-crazed individuals invaded Matthew Ruth’s home. Matt
did what most anyone would do to protect himself and his family. He
exercised his Washington Constitution article I, sub section 24
rights. “The right of an individual citizen to bear arms in defense of
himself...”
As a first time offender, he later was convicted on
two Assault 1 charges and sentenced to 31 years behind bars.
A
sentence that was handed down in the state of Washington by a corrupt
Snohomish County judge who allowed a manipulative prosecutor to paint
an ugly picture to 12 jurors who stated minutes after trial that they
did not want to find Matt guilty, but he did not prove his innocence.
Thankfully, Matt is a highly intelligent person who is
determined to beat his wrongful conviction. While in prison he has
chose to educate himself and learn as much as possible about the law.
He has fought tooth and nail to litigate his case. Impressively so, as
a Pro Se litigant, Matt Ruth set a legal precedent in the state of
Washington concerning our laws on gun and deadly weapon enhancements.
State v. RUTH, 167 Wn.2d 889 (2010). His case was remanded for
re-sentencing. In December of 2010, he received eight years off his
sentence. Currently Matthew Ruth's earliest release date is in 2021.
Since then, Matthew Ruth had retained Everett based attorney,
Mark D. Mestel. In December of 2011, Matt’s PRP (Personal Restraint
Petition) was filed. His case was then put on “stay” pending the
outcome of State v. Sublet. Due to the high cost of keeping a high
profile lawyer, Matthew is once again representing himself Pro Se. Our
main purpose for trying to generate money is so Matt can hire a new
appellant attorney to represent him when he goes back to Snohomish
County for a new trial.
We’re not asking for much. Just $5 from each person who’s willing to donate will help us seek justice for Matt Ruth. Please donate and help set an innocent man free.
