The choices we make in Grey Highlands today will shape our way of life for generations.
Grey Highlands is changing, whether we like it or not. Development is expanding northward from the GTA, and without careful planning, we risk making the same mistakes other municipalities have made before us: paving over wetlands, losing forests, degrading watersheds, sprawling onto farmland, and watching the rural character that makes our communities special, disappear one subdivision, stoplight, and strip mall at a time. At the same time, our roads, utilities, and community infrastructure need real investment, and every dollar spent unwisely is a dollar taken from your property tax bill with nothing to show for it. Too often, growth and environmental stewardship get framed as opposites, as though protecting green space means blocking investment , and building infrastructure means paving over everything that makes this place worth living in. But the truth is, we don't have to choose one over the other. With the right leadership, we can demand that development respects our watersheds, forests, and agricultural lands. Capital projects can be forward-thinking and delivered with real financial discipline, not rubber-stamped because "that's how it's always been done." We need a council that asks hard questions before the money is spent, not after. I've spent my time on council pushing for exactly this kind of vision and discipline, and now I'm running for Deputy Mayor to continue the work of setting Grey Highlands on the right path, fiscally and environmentally, for years to come.
