TL;DR: Noble is a Black disabled artist living in a house that is filled with water damage & has made them develop asthma. The landlord insists that it's safe, even though multiple doctors have told Noble to stay out of the house. Noble's health has deteriorated significantly, and they had to leave a hotel & go back to the home to wait for support. They need long term housing that is safe & accessible -- they need enough support to counteract the harm they are experiencing!
Noble recently moved into a house that they didn't know was riddled with water damage under an abusive landlord. Despite sending photos to their landlord and reporting over and over in just a few months, the landlord has refused to do anything substantial to restore the home-- even as Noble's health has deteriorated significantly. Noble has had to go for emergency medical care 5 times since July. They've gotten ear, skin and eye infections, and their lung capacity is so low that doctors are struggling to accurately test breathing levels. They are on an asthma regimen that will lead to hospitalizations if it escalates. Having to go back into the house is incredibly dangerous to their health and well being. Noble isn't getting enough oxygen, their vision is spotty, they've been getting migraines whenever they're in the house, and their dog has begun coughing when she's there too. It is urgent the they get the help they need to get out of this environment.
Doctors have told them that they need to stay out of the house, so they were at a hotel, but they couldn't afford to stay there, they need to find new housing as soon as possible and move their belongings out of the current rental. They're also working to pursue legal action so they can be compensated for this emergency move and some of their rent after being threatened and retaliated against for months in unsafe conditions. All of these things are going to cost money that they don't have, which is where you - & together we - come in. Any amount helps us to reach our goal for Noble to finally access long term housing and a chance at recovering from the harm that's been caused to them by this negligent slumlord. Please support however you know you can -- financially, through networking, pooling funds, sharing regularly, pledging monthly recurrent support, helping provide safe accessible housing, or covering major costs on credit if you're able.
You can also support by helping to tap your network so we can secure the following needs:
- storage unit (help with this cost from one person could be incredibly helpful)
- long term accessible airbnb or small single story space to land until long term housing is found
- help paying for movers this will probably need to happen twice, once to storage & once out of storage later
- help with food & gas & pet food - gift cards or recurring donation specifically for these would be incredible
- help find a long term accessible housing option where noble can land & stay peacefully without threat of being left homeless again - open to different states & cities
- help with finding folks to get involved with coordination, or offering to lead a pod of folks networking for funds, posting on social media regularly & tapping your friends & family
