This year has been a difficult year for my family and I as I was diagnosed with Muscular Sclerosis back in February 2023. I had a full body flare up from inflammation in my upper brainstem which caused blurred and doubled vision, vertigo and motion sickness, extreme fatigue sleep up to 20 hours at a time and not being able to move out of bed, full body numbness and loss of protective barriers such as feeling hot and cold, brain fog and slurred speech , swelling of the tongue causing episodes of choking, impaired walking, which after several months of physical and occupation therapy I can do without assistance but cannot run or jog yet. During this time, I did not receive short term disability as my work did not cover it as I was to believe that the coverage was a supplemental insurance(extra) to what I already had. I have missed out on 4 months of pay, while my bills have just piled up, between medical cost from all of the weekly appointments to specialty visits, towards rent, vehicle loans, insurance, utility bills, while trying to keep food on the table and essentials for the kids. I have exhausted my short loan and savings benefits and as hard as it is for me being the one to give to others, working as a medical professional for over 7 years, I could really use the help from others in a time of need. I have started to work part time for the past few weeks, but it will be months till I'm allowed to work full time, and unfortunately while this will allow me to keep my insurance for my kids and myself, it's not enough to cover essentials such as rent or the bills that continue to pile up. There comes a time that I have to stop and put my pride aside and be thankful to all those around me.  I ask those with a loving heart if they can spare anything extra to help my family and myself out during this time while working towards recovery and treatment. Everyone has been amazing to my family and myself during this time and I'm so blessed to have the support of others.
