Hello Beloved Community,

For the past seven years I’ve been organizing full-time without compensation for various community formations starting with the Black and Brown Workers Cooperative. I left non-profit work because of the need to challenge that structure and leadership at Philadelphia-based HIV service organizations. 

Throughout these years I’ve spent considerable time supporting families who’ve experienced tragic loss, confronted institutions that have our ancestors’ remains and have been part of many emergent direct actions and mutual aid work impacting the most vulnerable people in our communities. 

I have heavily relied on the generosity of the community to survive through almost a decade of not having sustainable income. I understand that because of the work I have done, it has made it extremely difficult to find work, often getting to the final round of interviews and not being hired. 

I am trying to transition out of organizing work, but have several ongoing projects that will keep my attention through at least the end of 2023. 

I am also being sued for writing about the unethical retention of bodily remains of Black children, which complicates my ability to work and receive resources to thrive in a time when many of us are struggling.

I am writing to you to ask for your help in fundraising to complete the community work over the next year, pay off debt and to pay for my portion of housing costs for the next year while I complete these projects and begin investing more into work that is sustainable.

Because I’m currently being sued, I can’t risk publicly fundraising and ask that you share this outside of social media channels to those in your networks. 

My financial goal is $10,000, this would do so much in reducing the anxiety and worry I have about my current material conditions, and with this relief I can find space in my heart and mind to strategize to plan for a sustainable future.
