I am Mustafa Jafari, doing my final year of B-tech scholarship in Electronics and Communications Engineering at Delhi Technological University. Since August 15th, 2021-which the Afghan government collapsed, and the Taliban took over, life hasn’t been easy and safe for many people in Afghanistan.
Since conducting infiltrations and house-to-house searches for ex-military, ex-journalists, women’s rights activists, and human rights activists all over the country, the Taliban regime has been eliminating them or torturing them.
My family is also in enormous danger. My mother has been a Humans rights activist and one of the founders of an association for the Hazara ethnic group (Panjab Youth association in Kabul) since 2013. She has been fighting against cruelties and human rights violations across the country by conducting informative seminars for illiterate people, especially women in the rural parts of Afghanistan. She also organizes educational courses for underprivileged children and provides scholarships.
We belong to the Hazara ethnic group and Shia Muslims, who have always been targeted by various attacks, bombings, and mass killings throughout history by Islamic extremist groups such as the Taliban and ISIS-K.
Now, since the government of Afghanistan has fallen to the hands of the Taliban regime, she is in great danger, considering her activities and campaigns in recent years. Unfortunately, she has been told by one of her colleagues “ to get out of the country as she is a potential target for Taliban regime, they would eliminate her as a lesson for other women.”
It is hugely important to keep the activists safe and alive. Because we do not have much time left if they succeed and eliminate the activists the voice of people and especially women in Afghanistan will be silenced and the protests suppressed. Once again Afghanistan goes back to how it was in the 2000s when the Taliban first came to power in Afghanistan and all the efforts made and all the sacrifices which the people of our society, the UN, and the global community made will go to waste.
My family intends to immigrate to one of the neighboring countries. Due to financial problems - they have been jobless since the Taliban took over - and as refugees, they would not be allowed to work legally. The funds raised will be used to cover passport, visa, transportation, accommodation, and resettlement costs.
Your donations are very much appreciated, please do not settle only for donations and try to spread the cause and the message, let everyone around you know what is going on and ask them to help too. Do share the fundraiser and God bless you and God bless those who fight for Humanity.
