Pierrot has been part of the colony of cats I m looking after for the last 5 years. When he joined, I immediately noticed both his back and posterior legs were a bit curved and I was told by the vet that it was probably from an old accident. Few weeks ago, Pierrot started limping, first on the front leg, than on the back leg. He also had weakness and tremors in the back legs in certain positions. He was in much pain, he would not move all day and at some point he stopped eating so he was given some anti inflammatory medication and was gradually improving. However, yesterday I had to rush him to the vet as his body all of a sudden got rigid and I thought he would die. But once we arrived at the vet, he was fine. We did a full blood test, he is anemic, has low platelets and he is FIV positive. It is not sure if he had a seizures caused by the drug or by FIV or other causes that still needs to be role out with further investigations. Meanwhile he is on therapy with doxycycline for suspected HaemoBartonella and he will have to repeat the blood tests in a week to see if platelets rise. Once he is hopefully stabilised, we will have to further investigate his movement disorder. Please help me to save this boy, he is such a sweet cat and he deserves a chance!
