This is my son Greyson. He is just 4 months away from graduating high school and our home is the only constant he has ever known. As of Monday, I've exhausted all sources of financial means to help us remain in this apartment.

As much as it absolutely destroys the stubborn, single Mom in me to admit... I need help.

For those of you who know me, and just read that, you must know how out of character that is for me….So yes, it's really that bad.

I have been sick for a few years, debilitated daily, and have spent a lot of time in and out of hospitals, exploring every alternative available, before an inevitable surgery. 3 months ago, I was hospitalized again when I lost all feeling on the left side of my body, and since returning home have been bedridden due to this condition. I am beyond frustrated. I don't want to be debilitated and I have tried to overcome it, but, I can't. My Doctors and physical therapists see my frustration, and remind me that this recovery process takes time. I can't work, the bills keep coming, and I've fallen behind... far behind, and without help I don't know what's next. I am asking for help because I have no other choice.

Greyson has persevered through great adversity, every step of the way has been a challenge, but he's battled through and I am very proud of him. He's an honor student, Captain of the lacrosse team, has helped take care of me, and he earned the highest rank of Command Sergeant Major at his school; i.e. he is in charge of the entire JROTC Battalion of his high school, I couldn't be prouder.

Growing up without his father, with my health issues, and achieving so much, the last thing he needs, at such a promising time, is uncertainty and stress.

Greyson needs consistency and comfort. I want more than anything to keep him in school, "his School" and in this apartment, "his Apartment" for just 4 more months. These are our last few months together before he leaves for college, where he will begin his journey of becoming an Officer in the U.S. Navy. We want to stay here, together. Any and all other alternatives not only wouldn't allow us to do that, but would also be physically difficult,  and financially impossible. All of my Doctors and specialists are here in Chicago. This is where his friends are, this is his home, his base, his solice and the only constant he’s had his entire life.

I desperately wish to keep it constant until he graduates. So please, while I am trying to recover, help us make it through these 4 months, and help me make this dream a reality. It's frustrating when you can't even tie your own shoes. My anxiety and stress have become overwhelming. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard someone say “Everything’s going to be ok.” All I want now is to be able to say those very same words to my son, and mean them.
