There comes a few moments in everyone’s life where a person can no longer just stand by and watch a human tragedy unfold before his or her eyes and do nothing. This is one of those moments for me and this is why I started this fundrazr.

Some close friends of mine who I will keep anonymous have fallen on some hard times; they do not know I am doing this so I am going to keep the details sparse. The important information is that my friend was hospitalized recently, and they were evicted from their home. Over the weekend, some good friends and I moved them out of their house into one of their parents’ house. His wife is trying to take care of three children, and my friend was the sole breadwinner for the family. They are now staying with her mother, where she has to share a bed with her mother and toddler son, and her daughters are sleeping on the couch. Let me tell you where the funds for this fundrazr are going.

First, being that since they had to move in with her mother, my friends had three cats that needed to be looked after. My fiancée and I have taken the cats in for the next two weeks to buy them some time. Her mother’s resident dogs are not cat trained and would kill the cats if they got ahold of them. So, I am in the process of trying to build a large portable cat enclosure. Being a broke full time veteran college student, I have the skills to build the enclosure but I do not have the funds. About 130 dollars of this fundraiser will be used to supply the materials I need to build this enclosure. This enclosure will allow us to return the cats to their family, while keeping them safe from the dogs, giving them the comfort they need while going through this stressful and emotional time.

Second, I want to be able to provide money for them to cover the gap in their lives. They have already been forced from their home, and they will need to find a new place to live as living with her mother is only a temporary solution, and that will require funds for gas, deposit, and expenses. They have luckily been able to avail themselves of some of the social services that Texas provides, but as we all know, that will only cover very specific expenses. The girls are in school, and their son is still a toddler, the help they are getting from the state will not cover the diapers that he needs, or some of the other items that go with having a young child, or school supplies that the girls require.

The third and most important thing I want to accomplish with this is to show that people care, whether they know you or not, that no matter how hard life gets, there will be people who will help you out without expecting anything in return. They may never know your name, or get to see your face, but they will know that they are not alone.

Anything you can spare will make a huge difference in these people’s lives. I am just a veteran, who sees that his friends are in trouble and I am reaching out for help, and supplying anything that my skills and means can provide. I will not keep any money from this for myself, I will use the money for supplies for the enclosure to protect their cats, and every last cent left that gets donated by you, and people like you, will be given to this family.

These are good people, who have fallen on hard times, they have never asked for anything, and work for everything they have, and I know they would not ask now. So I am asking for them. Please do not let this tragedy unfold before our eyes without doing something. Share, Donate, Help.
