Nicole Naillon-Wilhelm hasn't added a story.
Christmas Eve 2011 was a wonderful day for the Ames family full of cooking, sledding with the boys and Christmas Eve dinner, Church and hope for a happy and successful 2012. Just before they were on their way to church Randy had a massive seizure and was rushed to the hospital where they found out he had a brain tumor that needed to be removed immediately; and so the journey began.
The tumor was removed successfully and for the past two years Randy
has gracefully fought through radiation and chemotherapy with his
family at his side to regain his life. His fight has been extremely
successful: going back to work full time, coaching both of his boy’s
baseball teams, joining intermural sports and enjoying life.
He and his family have participated in the Miles for Hope
(which raises awareness and funding of cutting edge brain tumor
research as well as clinical trials) Brain Tumor Foundation’s 5K race
the last two years and was last year’s Ambassador and spoke person.
Through his journey Randy has not only raised money for research but
has helped many cope with having cancer and this beautiful and
positive soul has uplifted his friends, family and even his medical
support team with his humor and positivity.
Unfortunately Randy began having symptoms again and had an MRI
the day before Thanksgiving 2013 and “something” was there that had to
be removed. The doctor felt like the “something” may be a mass caused
by his original treatment and that news gave everyone hope for a great
outcome. Randy’s surgery was January 6th 2014 and the MRI that morning
showed the mass had not grown and again all were hopeful. After a five
hour surgery they were given the news that the mass was actually two
malignant tumors that were removed and have been sent off for more
tests to give them the details as to the challenges they will be
facing in the next few months. Currently there are eight chemotherapy
wafers that have been placed where the tumors were. These wafers will
dissolve over the next few weeks and be absorbed at the tumor
locations in the attempt to try to kill off any leftover cancer cells
that may still remain and aren't detectable.
This request for assistance is to take some of the financial burden of enormous medical bills from the past and now new and incurring charges. Please do not let the goal amount be overwhelming because every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated; the donations will grow over time.
Please help take away some of the fear and worry they are experiencing so the Ames family can focus on what is the most important thing in life; healing Randy and his family, remaining together safe and happy as long as possible.
Blessings to All
