Calling all Warriors!
Most of us know Chad and Wendy Weeden and what wonderful people and parents they are. Their commitment to CrossFit and the community benefits everyone they touch. They have an amazing family and one special little individual called William.
Read William’s story by Wendy,
About William:
“William is a four year old little boy full of smiles! He enjoys being tickled, playing and listening to music and jumping on the trampoline. He has Autism with a significant developmental delay. In addition to Autism, he has a rare chromosomal deletion at 14q11.2. He has over 90 genes missing on that chromosome. This brings many challenges. He struggles with communication, gross and fine motor development, self help skills and response to stimuli from the environment. He receives daily therapy and instruction in a special needs PreK classroom as well as early intervention in the home. One of the biggest struggles is his lack of communication skills. He uses some sign language and some picture exchange. His favorite sounds to produce are happy hums, Dada and ticka ticka. Another major challenge is that William wanders off very quickly and quietly! He can disappear within seconds and when you call his name, there is usually no response or return and you are faced with searching the house or area outdoors where he plays. We hope that in using a preventative wandering device alongside close supervision, we will be alerted when he leaves a perimeter as well as be more easily found when he wanders off. This will bring a little more piece of mind in busy family gatherings and social outings. The device alerts our mobile phones, contains GPS for optimal tracking and is worn as a watch.”
So that leads us to the challenge we are setting ourselves. With $2000 we can get a Wandering Tracking Device and service. This will track little William around the house and outside. Cool right! So how do we do it ? We can all donate to this site and we will put all the proceeds to buying William this amazing device. Too make it fun we as Warriors can set each other challenges between now and February the 15th . If you post me your personal challenge we will post it on the CrossFit website . The first challenge I will lay down
