On 14 July 2013, a shooting occurred in Jacksonville, Florida in a Golden Corral parking lot. The shooting resulted in two young men being murdered and four young men lives to be changed forever.

Before I tell this story, I would ask everyone to pray for the family of the two young men that was victimized by gunplay. There is never a good reason for anyone to take another person’s life in a situation like this.

On 16 July 2013, an arrest was made and Avery Damone Wood Jr. (AJ) was taking into custody and was placed with pending charges of two counts of murder and armed robbery. Two days later three other suspects were taking into custody and are currently pending the same charges.

During any given distressed situation of this magnitude many people will jump to conclusions and place condemnation; leading to facts to be distorted. This tragic situation has already led to that with no end in sight. I want to share heart-felt information with you that you may not know about AJ and this tragic murder case.

AJ is a 19-year-old young man that was raised in a military family environment, with a good upbringing in good neighborhoods, he has a big loving personality and was taught skin color is invisible. He loves singing, skate boarding, playing soccer and just hanging out with his many friends!

On the day of the arrest, AJ’s face was plastered all over the local news as a murder. The media made it seem like he was the triggerman; we are here to say that is false. Here are some of facts about the case that I can share with you.

AJ did not have a gun
The shooter got out of the car to shoot his victims
AJ was sitting in the car when the shooting took place
Drugs were involved in some capacity according to the police report
Mastermind of planning a robbery by Avery have been heighten by the detectives and heighten by the media
AJ is being consider by prosecuters to be given the same exact charges as the shooter
The prosecuters are look at max penalties for murder
AJ is very depress because this has cause the lost of life and has cause his life to be changed in a drastic/sad way forever
AJ takes ownership for his limited role (being there) in this horrific event
"hate crime" has been used in internet comments
The four suspects (three young black men and one young white man)
The victims (two young white men that were brothers)
Again, the lost of life should never be under valued and our hearts and prayers go out to the victim's family and friends. We just want to make sure Avery has a fair trial and in order to ensure that happens, he must have a solid defense team. Please find it in your heart to donate to his defense. Any amount will be greatly appreciated.

On behalf of Avery Wood Jr. and his family thank you for your contribution and we ask you to keep him in your prayers.

P.S. The Wood family choose not to place a fundraiser goal amount because any amount raised is a blessing. We will provide updates and personal thoughts periodically.
