Help me launch a non-profit dedicated to providing hands-on, minds-open science and engineering experiences for students and teachers.

If you support me, we can ...

build on my experiences working with students in science and robotics, both inside and outside the classroom to help create opportunities to spark curiosity and excitement in the minds of young people. Each success my students have achieved, each thank you note from a child or parent for what I have helped kids accomplish, convinces me we can do this.

I have had the opportunity to receive an incredible education, but few things compare to that mind-opening moment a few years ago when I - for the first time - actually, physically looked through a telescope with my daughter, in our front yard, and saw the moon. Not a picture. Not a computer screen. Moon to telescope to brain. It sounds commonplace, but if you have not done it, you should! I wondered then (and often since) what would have happened if I had had more moments like that when I was in fourth grade, instead of 27th grade (or whatever absurd number I'm at). That sense of wonder inspires me to create moments like that for others.

This campaign will help me launch the non-profit and start putting telescopes into classrooms (and then microscopes!). The second-stage engine will fire to drive an Indiegogo crowdsourcing campaign to spread the project to even more classrooms. Next will come programs to bring medical residents and researchers into schools, to get students and teachers out of the classroom for field trips, teacher workshops, and then create a STUDENT-RUN, world-class science & engineering festival.

Our goal is to impact 1,000 students before the end of this school year. 1,000 kids or more and that's just the beginning stage!

Which one will go on to make a breakthrough in cancer research? Which one will be the first to help reverse the effects of Alzheimer’s or the first one to land on a planet outside our solar system? Which one will design a sustainable city arteried with greenspace and stream-cooled boulevards? Which one will become the next Bill Nye or Neil DeGrasse-Tyson and help inspire even more brilliant scientists coming up after them?

Your contribution will be retroactively tax-deductible once the paperwork is stamped. If you believe in me, if you believe in kids, GIVE BIG. This one moment we decide if we will send our students off to be trapped in a rat-maze of cubicles or if we will launch their minds and imaginations to the moon. The leaders and inventors of tomorrow are counting on us to ignite the curiosity of these future scientists. In fact, everyone of tomorrow is counting on us to have a brighter, better world.
