My girlfriend has been living in Canada for 3 years. When she applied to renew her work permit, she was granted a one year extension. During this time, she wasn't able to leave Canada or she would lose her work permit. She is self employed as a graphic designer though she can't afford to support herself alone. She received word from a family friend who takes care of her grandmother that she had injured herself. My girlfriend continuously began to miss her grandmother more and more over the past few months and even wondered if her grandmother remembered her, since she recently showed signs of cognitive decline. When she left Hong Kong for Canada, she also had to leave her pet tortoise behind as well, since Canada doesn't allow for its species to be transported into the country (likely to mitigate the effects of the poaching industry). The friend who she left her tortoise with recently suffered an injury as well and it's unclear how much longer the friend will be able to care for the tortoise for. My girlfriend wants to go back to Hong Kong briefly with me to visit her grandmother at least one more time before it's too late and to set up alternative living arrangements for her tortoise. I would have gone back to Hong Kong with her as soon as she got her new work permit if I could, but unfortunately that just isn't possible.

I'm only a part-time worker because I'm in university and I take as many extra hours at work as I can, so I'm basically working full-time anyway as well as being a full-time student, which I'm paying for out-of-pocket and my credit card balance is just too high. I would appreciate any help for my girlfriend to go back to Hong Kong to see her grandmother at least one last time.
