Here is Susan's story, in her own words:

Hello my dear friends!!!

I hope the New Year is going well for all of you.

I’m here to ask for your help to get Lily and I through the next 3 months. I held off for as long as I could, hoping I’d find a job quickly.

Since last July, I’ve been looking for a job. It’s been difficult and I’ve had many disappointments. I’ve looked in and outside of my field, lowered my standards and have had to become more open to other areas of work. I’ve been ghosted by recruiters and have had to chase HR managers for updates.

I haven’t had to look for work since 2010. A lot has changed since then!!!

Luckily, I have a lot of help and support from my job coach, dog group friends and my neighbors, who help me to apply for jobs on their laptop.

I’m at the point rn where I need to find a job very soon. Right now, I’m down to $200 in savings from a good friend’s Christmas present.

I don’t want to continue this pattern of struggle. Joe and I had financial difficulties throughout our marriage and after he passed away in 2024, I was left with one small social security benefit ($1367 per month along with $24 in SNAP/EBT.) I was just not prepared financially.

In June of 2024, Lily and I moved in with my daughter Ariana and her boyfriend Joe. What was supposed to be temporary turned into almost two years of us living with them.

The housing market is very expensive here. So, I need a very good, well paying job to find a safe, affordable forever home for Lily and me.

I don’t have any options rn for another place to live and I’m not dating/in a relationship so I must do this by myself with my support system behind me.

My biggest fear is that Lily and I will end up on the street if I can’t find a good job. I cry and pray every day for the right job to come my way, soon.

So, I am humbly asking for your help so I can focus on the job search without all the fear and anxiety I’ve been feeling lately about our bills.

We are so grateful for the help and generous support we have already received.

This is what we need help with:

Lily’s prescriptions through Ark Animal Home Care are both almost overdue (Heart Guard and Credelio) $159.05. I need to arrange auto ship. See documentation. Lily’s remaining vaccines at Ark including office tech fee $129.50. I need to arrange an appointment. See documentation.

Lily’s remaining ultrasound balance ark animal home care $234.50. I haven’t been able to pay the $50 per month payment since December. If you’d like to help with this, I can provide you with the number for their office manager, Michele (she has been very understanding of our situation so I’d like to pay this off as soon as I can.)

Priority - Lily’s ** Cobalequin ** and Fortiflora both on Amazon list. We are almost out of the Cobalequin.

Grooming for Lily at Sara’s paw spa March 12 $90 plus tip $110 total screen shot from Sara attached. If you’d like to help with this, I can give you Sarah’s contact info to arrange directly with her.

Lily’s chewy authorship on March 12 for her dry food $78.83. See documentation.

Food $50 per week see attached Walmart delivery receipt.

Gas 4 fills @ 14 gallons x $2.63 per gallon See attached screen shot from gas buddy app for cost per gallon at my neighborhood gas station. $147.28/$36.82 per fill.

March rent $400 see documentation I haven’t paid rent since December so I’d like to get caught up on this. Joe and Ariana have been very understanding.

Amazon affirm financing documentation attached February $161.19 and March $141.22 Total $302.40. This is for items I financed such as Christmas presents, household and wellness items.

Storage unit $73 due on the 28th of each month, see screen shot.

Please take a look at our Amazon list for Lily’s priority wellness items. The list also includes work clothing and shoes for me. I haven’t worked since 2017 and have lost weight since then. I don’t like to ask for myself but I don’t have the funds to buy clothing or wellness items right now.
