Imagine trying to be a choreographer in a country where dance is banned. In Iran, there are no universities teaching choreography, no public schools or theaters supporting dance.
Still, artists like Sina find ways to keep it alive — rehearsing in private spaces, performing underground, and funding their own work while facing political, legal, and financial risks. At times, his practice has even moved into the streets and public spaces, where dancing becomes both an act of art and an act of defiance — fleeting, risky, and radical.
After years of creating courageous, body-based work under challenging conditions, Sina has been accepted into two Master’s programs in Germany — the MA Solo/Dance/Authorship (SODA) at HZT Berlin – the Inter-University Centre for Dance, part of the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), and MA Choreography and Performance (CuP) at the Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) - rare opportunities to deepen and expand both his artistic practice and academic knowledge.
He has chosen to continue his studies at HZT Berlin, where he feels most connected to his artistic journey.
This step is essential for him to grow, to develop his work beyond the limitations he has faced in Iran, and to move closer to his dream of pursuing a PhD in the future.
My name is Mahsa Rostami (Zahra Rostami in official documents), and I’m asking for your support on behalf of my partner, Sina Sheybani — an independent choreographer, performer, and theater-maker from Iran.
Your contribution will help him continue his artistic and academic path, while also allowing us to reunite after a long separation. Because international banking sanctions prevent him from receiving funds directly, I am organizing this campaign; all donations will be managed by me and transferred in full to his bank account in Germany once it is opened.
Currently, Sina does not have a scholarship. To begin his life and studies in Germany, he needs €11,904 — the amount the German embassy has specified as the cost of one year of living for a student in Germany. This sum will cover accommodation, tuition and university fees, and other essential living expenses. Alongside this support, Sina plans to work legally during his studies to help sustain himself. A small portion of this amount might be raised in Iran, but given the current economic situation after recent war, it is far from reliable.
Making things even more difficult is the severe economic crisis that followed the 12-day war in Iran. The average monthly income in the country is less than €150, making it nearly impossible to save or crowdsource this amount locally. To put it in perspective: if 240 people contribute just €50, the entire goal would be reached. But €50 is one-third of an average Iranian salary — so outside support is essential. Without securing this sum in time, this rare and life-changing opportunity could be lost.

یا تئاتر عمومی از رقص حمایت نمیکند.
با این حال، هنرمندانی مانند

راههایی برای زنده نگه داشتن آن پیدا میکنند — در فضاهای خصوصی

رشتهی «کارشناسی ارشد سولو/رقص/نویسندگی» در مرکز بیندانشگاهی
رقص برلین که زیرمجموعهی دانشگاه هنرهای برلین است،
و رشتهی «کارشناسی ارشد کرئوگرافی وپرفورمنس» در دانشگاه یوستوس
لیبیگ گیسن — دو فرصت نادر برای گسترش و تعمیق دانش هنری و دانشگاهی او.
سینا تصمیم گرفته تحصیلات خود را در برلین ادامه دهد، جایی که احساس میکند بیشترین نزدیکی را با مسیر هنری و آکادمیک خود دارد.
این گام برای رشد او حیاتی است؛ تا بتواند کارش را فراتر از محدودیتهایی که در ایران با آن روبهرو بوده ادامه دهد و به رؤیای خود برای ادامهی تحصیل در مقطع دکتری نزدیکتر شود.

به دلیل تحریمهای بانکی بینالمللی علیه ایران، سینا نمیتواند
مستقیماً کمکهای مالی را دریافت کند. به همین دلیل، من مسئولیت

در حال حاضر سینا هیچ بورسیهای ندارد.
برای آغاز زندگی و تحصیل در آلمان، او به ۱۱٬۹۰۴ یورو نیاز دارد —
مبلغی که سفارت آلمان بهعنوان هزینهی زندگی یکسالهی دانشجویان
تعیین کرده است.
این مبلغ شامل هزینهی اقامت، شهریه و هزینههای دانشگاه، و سایر
مخارج ضروری زندگی است.
در کنار این حمایت، سینا قصد دارد در طول تحصیل بهصورت قانونی کار
کند تا بخشی از هزینهها را خود تأمین کند.
مقداری اندک از این مبلغ شاید در ایران جمعآوری شود، اما با توجه به وضعیت اقتصادی نابسامان پس از جنگ اخیر، این امر چندان قابل اتکا نیست.
بحران اقتصادی شدیدی که پس از جنگ ۱۲ روزه در ایران به وجود آمده،
شرایط را حتی دشوارتر کرده است.
میانگین درآمد ماهیانه در کشور کمتر از ۱۵۰ یورو است، که پسانداز
یا تأمین چنین مبلغی را تقریباً غیرممکن میسازد.
برای درک بهتر: اگر فقط ۲۴۰ نفر هرکدام ۵۰ یورو کمک کنند، کل مبلغ
هدف جمع خواهد شد — اما ۵۰ یورو معادل یکسوم حقوق ماهیانهی یک ایرانی است.
بنابراین، حمایت بینالمللی برای تحقق این هدف حیاتی است.
در غیر این صورت، این فرصت نادر و سرنوشتساز ممکن است از دست برود.
هیچ کمکی کوچک نیست — هر مقدار میتواند گامی برای زنده نگه داشتن این رؤیا باشد.
