My name is Michael Barry. I am a 10 year old boy from Blarney, Cork. I am a full time wheelchair user but this year I got a walker. My goal is to improve strength and walking while helping the people of Ukraine, who despite war are still living there.

In January of this year, my mum and I met a man by the name of Andrew Laste pictured above, he has being going back and forth to Ukraine over the years. Since the invasion Andrew has personally helped evacuate 45 Ukrainian families including his Father in Law. 

He is an former Fire Fighter and a current Emergency Medical Technician from Clonmel Co. Tipperary. He is a front line non combat medic who trains soldiers in life saving emergency care. He brings over emergency equipment, humanitarian aid, toys for children in orphanages. What he does is huge. 

Previously I have fundraised for a wheelchair accessible vehicle to be purchased and brought over by Andrew to help people like me - wheelchair users. 

I have sent over medical supplies that I didnt need any more or extras that I had. Mum and I purchased over the counter medications to help also.

I dont think I need to do more but mum and I want to. 

Andrew is going back over to Ukraine in a few days time when he starts his journey I will start mine. I mentioned earlier I got a walker.

Here is my plan for every day that Andrew is in Ukraine I will walk as far as I can, some days it will be 50 meters other days it will be 200meters. There is a pedometer on my walker that measures the distance I walk it will be reset every time.

I will finish when Andrew gets back which could be 6 weeks or even more.

My goal is €5000 and every cent will go to help families and soldiers still living in the Eastern region of Ukraine.
