Dear friends around the world,
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak the schools in Uganda were closed for two years, as the government instituted a lockdown. All children were sent back home to their parents, a great majority poor.
Schools in Uganda are based on the British model of boarding schools, which is good particularly for those students who live far away. But staying home for two years impacted their learning and growth. We want to change that for the Nasenyi Jewish community by helping parents to send their kids to Hadassah primary school to continue their education. The school goes up to 8th grade.
Our community has prevented in the two years the worse outcomes, especially for girls. In the general population many young age girls have gotten pregnant. Some parents use them as a source of income by suing the boy's family. Other parents choose to give out their daughters to rich men for money so that they can educate the boys.
However, none of this has happened yet in our community. We have been able to control this by keeping our children in our Hebrew classes which have been keeping them busy and bright minded. We also kept them busy making kippot, trivets and challah covers.
Every child in our Hebrew class is very bright and they all have
much passion for school and Torah reading. Between primary and
secondary students, we have 27 children.
We know that the Hadassah primary school is the best chance for our children, because they teach Hebrew and Torah and Judaism in general and also they have high standards. The government already announced the reopening of schools on the 10th of January 2022.

Please support the education of these innocent children. Let's do this together and curb illiteracy, unemployment and future crimes.
Every kid has a dream as you will see below:
Emunah Sabano would like to be a Surgical Doctor,
Shivan Baluka would like to be a Lawyer,
Erisa Gayola would like to be a Pilot.
Please support us so that we can also have a bright future.
Here are pictures of the school:
A full year (three terms) costs US$ 240 per child. That covers classes, room and board, materials and uniform. Please help us.
